This League Two clash between Rovers and Wycombe Wanderers was abandoned midway through the second half following torrential rain and a thunder storm, which saw lightning strike the stand housing the visiting supporters.
Lee Brown gave Rovers an early lead in the game, the majority of which was played in fine, sunny conditions, before Richard Logan equalised for The Chairboys. Two spectacular long-range strikes in quick succession from Eliot Richards meant that The Pirates went into the break leading 3–1. The second half saw the heavens open, and after the lightning strike the referee called a halt to proceedings following advice from Wycombe's health and safety representative.
This game saw second year scholar Tom Lockyer named as a substitute for the first time, and it was also Tom Parkes's first game as a contracted Bristol Rovers player, having previously only played for the club while on loan.
In the days following the match Rovers submitted an official written complaint to the Football League over the abandonment. The match was rearranged for 1 December, just over three months later, where The Gas lost 2–0.
