Since Wikia have introduced the new blog feature, I thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity to give a progress report on what I'm up to at the moment.
I have been going through all the player articles of late, updating their stats from the 2008-09 season, and putting the player assessment template on their talk pages. This has a couple of advantages - firstly it allows users to see what standard the article is up to, and what work needs to be done, and secondly the active argument puts the articles into categories based on whether or not they are still playing. This is important because it will make updating the stats a quicker and easier task in the future, because you can just work through all the articles in the active players category, rather than going through all players and checking to see if they are still active or not.
One major shortcoming we have at the moment is that club articles are not all gathered together in a single club article category, but are rather each in the category related to that club. It's good that they remain there, but I think that a single category for all of them is also needed.
That's all I've got to say for now, I'd better get back to work...

- Update: As of November 2009, all players stats have been updated where possible for the 2008–09 season. There are a few exceptions where players are with non-league teams and I haven't been able to find the numbers of appearances or goals.
