Alfred Sydney Leigh, known as Syd, was a centre forward who played for Rovers during their first two seasons in the Football League, from 1920 to 1922.
He became the first player to score four goals in a league game for The Pirates against Exeter City in May 1921, and was the club's top goalscorer in both his seasons in Bristol.
After beginning his career with Osmaston Alfred played two Football League games for Derby County in 1919. He suffered an injury while playing for Rovers in April 1922 and never returned to the side, returning home to Derbyshire shortly afterwards.
