Rovers played out a goalless draw at Roots Hall with a Southend United side which included Matthew Lund, who had been on loan with the Pirates earlier in the season.
With the 2012–13 campaign drawing to a close, both teams were sitting safely in the middle of the League Two table with little to play for. Southend were not prepared to simply play out the 90 minutes though, and they dominated the proceedings. Despite producing many chances throughout the game, they were unable to find the back of the net, leading Rovers boss John Ward to admit that his side were lucky to pick up a point.
