Sam Oji is a defender who joined Rovers on loan from Birmingham City in 2007. He made five appearances for the Gas in a two month spell before returning to Birmingham.
Career[]
Oji's career started as a trainee at Arsenal but failed to earn a pro contract and was snapped up by Birmingham City in 2004. He was eventually loaned out to Doncaster Rovers in late 2005 where he made five appearances before returning to the Midlands. His first and only Brum appearance came as a late substitute in an FA Cup match against Reading.
He joined Rovers in February 2007 and made five appearances, all in League Two matches. He joined Leyton Orient the following season on loan but made just two substitute appearances. He was released by Birmingham in January 2008 and quickly signed by Orient on a deal until the end of the season.
He was released by Orient after the 2007-08 season and was signed by Hereford United at the start of the 2008-09 season. Just five games into his spell with Hereford Sam suffered a knee injury which kept him on the sidelines for several months. When he recovered he was unable to force his way back into the team, and was released in February 2009. At this point he moved overseas to find a new club, and signed for second-flight Swedish club Ljungskile SK, but he left after playing just six games. After this he had trials with Tranmere Rovers, Turkish side Diyabakispor and Leyton Orient, the latter two of which were cut short by injury.
After a long period out of the game due to the injury suffered during his trial at Orient, Sam finally made his comeback in December 2011 when he signed for Tamworth.
