Ricky Shakes is a midfielder who had a month long loan spell at Rovers from Bolton Wanderers during the 2004–05 season. He played in just one league game for the Pirates and one Football League Trophy game, both as a substitute, playing 47 minutes in total.
The two games he featured in were the 2-1 defeat away to Macclesfield Town in League Two, and the 2-2 draw with Southend United in the second leg of the area final of the Football League Trophy.
Ricky is in the extremely unusual position of having been capped by two different national teams. He made his international debut for Trinidad & Tobago in 2006 in a friendly match against Iceland while a player at Swindon Town, but was never selected again. Five years later he linked up with the Guyana national team to take part in their qualifying campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Career[]
Ricky's first professional club were Bolton Wanderers, with whom he spent two seasons in the professional ranks, although he didn't make any first team appearances for the club in the league. While at Bolton he had loan spells at Bristol Rovers and Bury, before being released by Bolton at the end of the 2004-05 season. He was picked up by Swindon Town that summer and went on to make 69 league appearances for Swindon in two years. His next club were Brentford, where he spent the 2007-08 season, followed by Ebbsfleet United, who he joined in 2008.
