The Professional Footballers' Association have named a team of the year for each of the divisions of the Football League since the 1973–74 season, and also for the Premier League since its inception in 1992. Eleven players are named each year for each division.

Eight Bristol Rovers players have been honoured in this way, including David Williams, who was named to the Third Division team twice in the 1980s. Only once has more than one Rovers player been included in a single season, when forwards Bruce Bannister and Alan Warboys were named in the inaugural Division Three team of the year in 1974.
