Martin Horsell is a goalkeeper who first signed professional forms for Rovers in 2005, and was a member of the squad for a year. He never made any appearances for the first team though, and was released in 2006.

Martin played for the Plymouth Argyle youth teams as a youngster before joining the Bristol Academy of Sport in 2004. After a year at Filton College he was signed as a professional by Ian Atkins, but never played a competitive game. At the end of the 2005-06 season he was released by the club, and was signed again by Atkins, who was Torquay United's manager at this point. He went on to play six league games in a year at Plainmoor, but was again released at the end of the season.

At the beginning of the 2007-08 season Martin joined Yate Town for a very brief spell, before moving to Salisbury City a month later. In January 2008 he was picked up by Dorchester Town and by the end of the campaign he was at his fourth club of the season in Tiverton Town, making his debut standing in for the injured Ray Johnston against Gloucester City on 4 March 2008. While at Tivvy he played alongside on-loan Rovers youngster James Fraser.

In October 2008, after having had an unsuccessful trial with Weymouth in the summer, Martin joined Western League side Dawlish Town, and the following year joined Belgian team RRFC Montegnée, who combine university education with playing football. He made a single substitute appearance for Weymouth in their 2010 pre-season campaign, playing the last nine minutes of their friendly against his former club Dorchester Town.

A year later he was on trial with Yeovil Town, but was not offered a contract. Away from playing football, Ray works as a personal trainer and is also a part-time football coach.
