Bristol Rovers played their final game of the 2007-08 season on 3 May 2008 against Leyton Orient. First team coach Paul Trollope named an unchanged team from the previous game against Brighton & Hove Albion, and the Orient team included former Rovers loanee Sam Oji in the starting 11. The season ended on a low point with a 3-1 defeat, capping off a miserable run-in for the Pirates who won just one of their last 16 games in all competitions, a run which saw them going from a position where they would be in the playoffs if they won their games in hand to finishing 23 points off sixth place.
