Lee Hodges is a midfielder who initially joined Rovers on loan at the end of the 2002-03 season, and was signed by the club in the summer of 2003. He remained with the Pirates for two full seasons, but was only a fringe player during that time, making just five starts and eight substitute appearances in the league after his initial loan spell. After being released by Rovers in 2004, Hodges signed for non-league side Purfleet.

Career[]

Lee started his footballing career as a trainee with West Ham United, and was awarded a professional contract on his 17th birthday. He went on to make three substitute appearances for the Hammers in the Premier League, and another three in the FA Cup, and was loaned out to five clubs; Exeter City, Leyton Orient, Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town and Southend United.

West Ham sold Hodges to Scunthorpe United for a transfer fee of £130,000 in 1999, and he went on to make 113 league appearances in three years with the Iron, scoring a total of 20 goals in that time. His next move was less successful however, when he joined Rochdale on a free transfer in 2002. He made just three starts and four appearances from the bench, before being loaned to Bristol Rovers after less than a year at Spotlands.

Following his spell at Rovers, Lee dropped out of the Football League to join Purfleet in 2005, and then Billericay Town in 2006 and AFC Hornchurch in 2008. He joined Tilbury during the 2009–10 season as a player-coach, and later held the same position with East Thurrock United. After hanging up his boots he took on a role on the coaching staff at Thurrock and had a brief three-month spell as manager of Aveley in the Isthmian League Premier Division during the 2011–12 campaign.
