Kevin Miller is a goalkeeper who played for Rovers for two seasons, in 2003-04 and 2004-05. He was signed from Exeter City in the summer of 2003 and immediately established himself as the first choice between the sticks, playing in 44 of the club's 46 league games in his first season. His second season began in much the same way, but an injury midway through the campaign gave Ryan Clarke a spell in goal. Towards the end of the season he was signed on loan by Derby County as goalkeeping cover after Lee Grant fractured his wrist, and he was released by Rovers at the end of the 2004-05 season.
Career[]
Kevin began his footballing career in Cornwall with Newquay, but his big break came when he was picked up by Exeter City in 1988 at the age of 19, and he made three league appearances in his debut season with the Grecians. He went on to play 163 league games in five years in what was his first of two spells with the club.
In 1993 he was signed by Birmingham City, and the following year he moved to Watford for three years. He then had spells at Crystal Palace and Barnsley before returning to Exeter for a year, starting in 2002. He joined Rovers in 2003, and after a loan period at Derby he initially retired from football on his release from Rovers in 2005 at the age of 36. He was tempted out of retirement in February 2006 when Southampton needed goalkeeping cover following an injury to Bartosz Białkowski, and he managed to earn a spot in the starting eleven for the final seven games of the 2005-06 season. He stayed at Southampton the following year, but failed to make any first team appearances, and was spent out on loan to Torquay United. In 2007 he was released by Southampton, and he returned home to Cornwall to sign for Bodmin Town.
He established himself as a vital part of Bodmin's side, opting to end his career with the Cornish side. He was due to retire from playing in 2013, at the age of 44, but he was convinced to continue playing for a further year.
