Joe Anyinsah is a right-sided midfielder who can also play as a striker. He joined on 6 July 2011 after having been released by Charlton Athletic, becoming the twelfth player to sign during a squad overhaul in the summer of 2011 that saw fifteen new players join the club.
In his two seasons with Bristol Rovers he played 62 League games, scoring eight times. These appearances were split evenly between his two campaigns in the north of Bristol, with 31 appearances and four goals in each season. He was released on expiry of his contract at the end of the 2012–13 season.
Career[]
Bristol-born Joe started his career with Rovers' cross-city rivals Bristol City, where he had been playing youth football since nine years old. He was promoted into their senior squad in 2004, but after just one season with the first team, during which time he was loaned out to Hereford United for a month, he turned down the offer of a new contract and opted instead to sign for Preston North End.
He struggled to get first team football at Deepdale however, making just six league appearances, all from the bench, in a three-and-a-half year spell which also saw him loaned out to Bury, Carlisle United, Crewe Alexandra and Brighton & Hove Albion. During the January 2009 transfer window, a year after being there on loan, he signed for Carlisle United and had what was the most productive spell of his career up to this point in terms of goalscoring. In the four-and-a-half years of his career up to signing for Carlisle he had scored a total of three goals, all while on loan at the Brunton Park club, but during his 18 month spell there between 2009 and 2010 he managed to find the net 13 times in 47 league games.
He spent the 2010–11 season with Charlton Athletic, where he had been training as a free agent until being offered a contract by them at the end of August. He scored three times in 19 league games for them before signing for Rovers in 2011.

Record against Rovers[]
Joe has played against Bristol Rovers three times in his career, and has never been on the winning side in any of those games. All three of his appearances against the Gas were for Carlisle United, the first two of which were at Brunton Park and both ended in 1–1 draws. He also played once at the Mem in 2009 in a game that Rovers won by the odd goal in five.
