Jack McKenna is a midfielder who progressed through the Rovers youth ranks, breaking into the first team squad at the start of the 2009–10 season at the same time as Eliot Richards, Dan Cayford, Mark Cooper, Neikell Plummer, George Booth, Steve Kingdon and Ollie Clarke.
He never make a first team appearance for The Gas, although he was an unused substitute in one game, a 2–1 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion in April 2010. After a two-month long loan with Chippenham Town early in 2011 he was released by The Pirates on 1 April that year, enabling him to sign for Frome Town.
Career[]
After coming through the Rovers youth system, Jack failed to make an impact on the first team in his first 18 months as a professional, and was eventually loaned out to Chippenham Town midway through the 2010–11 season in order for him to get some first team football. He lined up alongside former Gas men Alex Kite and Lewis Powell in the Chippenham team, and after his initial month-long spell with them the deal was extended to a second month. Shortly after returning to Bristol he was released, whereupon he joined Frome Town, but they in turn released him at the end of the season.
He joined Western League Premier Division side Bristol Manor Farm in time for the start of the 2011–12 season but only stayed until October, when he was signed by Clevedon Town of the Southern League Division One South & West. He suffered a fractured wrist shortly after joining Clevedon, an injury that required surgery to correct, causing him to miss a number of games.
