Ijah Anderson was a defender who played 53 league games for Rovers in a spell at the club lasting just under two years. He initially joined the club on loan from Brentford at the end of January 2003 for the remainder of the 2002-03 season, but signed permanently at the start of the following season.

Although he played in over 50 league games for the Pirates, he ran out in just two cup games for the club - a League Cup match against Brighton & Hove Albion and a Football League Trophy game against Southend United, both of which ended in defeat.

In November 2004 he signed for Swansea City on a free transfer.

Ijah's first club was Tottenham Hotspur, where he was a youth player before being given a pro contract in 1993. After a year with the seniors at Spurs he was released without having played for the first team, and he joined Southend United, where he also failed to make any first team appearances.

After a year at Roots Hall, he made the move to Brentford, where he finally got a chance to establish himself as a first team player, and he went on to make over 200 league appearances for the Bees, also having loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers and Bristol Rovers. The loan at Rovers became a permanent move, and two years later he signed for Swansea City on a free transfer. In one year with Swansea he made just eight league starts, coming on as sub a further ten times.

Ijah's spell at Swansea, and his professional career, came to an abrupt end at the end of 2005 when he failed a drugs test, testing positive for cocaine.[1] This test led to him being sacked by the club. He never made another appearance in the Football League. He went on to play four games for Lewes in 2006 but was at the club for just one month.
