Ellis Harrison is a forward who progressed through the Rovers youth system into the first team squad, making his debut as a 75th-minute substitute for Jo Kuffour in a 1–0 defeat to Southampton on 16 April 2011.
His inclusion in the team was something of a surprise, but he, along with fellow under-18s player Lamar Powell, were both given an opportunity in the first team by caretaker player-manager Stuart Campbell after they had impressed in a reserve team game earlier in the week.
Shortly afterwards he was drafted into the Welsh Under-17 squad for a four nation tournament in Sweden where the team faced matches against Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Unfortunately for Ellis he was unable to travel and take part in the competition due to suffering a broken foot just days after his call-up.
It wasn't until more than a year after his first team debut that he was awarded his first professional contract, when he progressed into the senior ranks at the club along with fellow graduates Jordan Goddard, Mitch Harding and Ross Staley in the summer of 2012.
The first half of his first season as a professional saw him named among the substitutes for a handful of games, but he was not brought on in any of them. It wasn't until a change in management at the club, which saw John Ward replace Mark McGhee at the helm, that Ellis began getting some first team football. He made his first start for the club, and his first appearance of the 2012–13 season, on 12 January 2013 in a 3–0 victory over Fleetwood Town, and his first goal for the club came a fortnight later when The Pirates beat Rotherham United 3–1 at the New York Stadium.
As the season progressed he gradually began making more appearances, and by the end of the season he was a regular face in the side.
Career[]
Ellis progressed through the youth ranks at Rovers, signing his first professional deal in the summer of 2012. He has not played for any other teams at senior level.
