Darren Jefferies was the first of two youth team players who were awarded their first professional contract during the 2010–11 season, the other being Lamar Powell. Jefferies put pen to paper on his 17th birthday, reportedly pledging his services to Rovers for two-and-a-half years, although he was released by the club a year before that contract was up.

Darren is a versatile midfielder, and is able to play anywhere across the middle four. He was named on the bench four times during his first season as a pro, the first of which was in an FA Cup defeat to Darlington in November 2010, but he was not brought on during any of these games. The following season he was again an unused sub in a 3–2 League Cup defeat to Leyton Orient, before finally making his debut in a 6–1 victory over AFC Totton on 4 December 2011 in the second round of the FA Cup, coming on as a 67th-minute replacement for Oliver Norburn in a game screened live on ITV.

This would be the sum total of his Rovers career, as manager Mark McGhee opted to release him at the end of the 2011–12 season.

Career[]

Darren spent the early part of his career in senior football with Bristol Rovers, breaking through from the youth system in 2010, but was released after two years having made just a single FA Cup appearance. After leaving Rovers he signed for Southern League side Frome Town.
