Rovers picked up their first win of the 2013–14 season in this game against York City at the Memorial Stadium.
The Gas took the lead early in the game through David Clarkson, and he doubled the advantage shortly after the half hour mark. Ryan Jarvis pulled a goal back for the Minstermen on 41 minutes, before substitute Ryan Bowman was sent off following a clash with Tom Parkes just five minutes after being brought on. The incident also saw the Rovers man booked.
Jarvis managed to score an equaliser from the penalty spot for 10-man York after 64 minutes of the game, after Mark McChrystal was adjudged to fouled Chris Smith in the area. The York fans' joy at levelling the scores lasted just three minutes however, thanks to John-Joe O'Toole's first goal of the season wrapping up a 3–2 victory for the Pirates.
