Rovers suffered their fourth straight defeat in this 3–2 League Two reversal at the hands of Southend United.
After Fabian Broghammer gave The Gas and early lead, Gavin Tomlin and Kevan Hurst both scored shortly before the break to give the Essex side the lead at half time. Ryan Cresswell put Southend 3–1 up in the second half before David Clarkson's 85th-minute penalty gave The Pirates a slim chance of snatching a point. Those hopes were dashed three minutes later when substitute Oliver Norburn was sent off for serious foul play, effectively ending any chance of completing the comeback.
