On 12 February 2008 Rovers hosted Oldham Athletic at the Memorial Stadium. Coach Paul Trollope kept the same starting eleven from the previous match, despite losing that game to Doncaster Rovers. The only change to the lineup on the bench was the return of Richard Walker in place of Byron Anthony.
Before the game kicked off Rovers were 16th in League One and Oldham were tenth, just three points ahead of The Pirates. An injury time goal, headed in by Craig Disley from a Sean Rigg cross, was enough to give Rovers all three points and move them up to 13th in the league.
