Pre-Rovers[]

Allen's career started as a teenager in 1988 for Queens Park Rangers and featured for the London club 81 times scoring 27 goals, including a hat-trick against Everton at Goodison Park in a 3-0 win.

He transferred to then Division One Charlton Athletic for £400,000 in 1996. Three years, and 40 league appearances, later and Allen was on the move to Colchester United on loan where he made four appearances and scored just once. He joined Grimsby Town in 1999 where he remained for three years. He made 79 appearances for Grimsby scoring 15 goals.

His time at Grimsby came to an end in 2002 when he joined Peterborough United remaining at London Road for just 3 months when he moved to his final league club, Rovers.

Post-Rovers[]

Having left Rovers at the end of the season, he had trials with a number of clubs before settling on AFC Hornchurch. He was released by Hornchurch, who were in financial trouble, and joined Redbridge before being released at the end of the season. He is now working for Tottenham Hotspur as Under 14s coach.
