Robert James Adams, known as Bob Adams, was a goalkeeper who spent the 1934–35 season with Rovers. He only managed two first team appearances for The Pirates, making his debut on 12 January 1935 in a 3–1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup after regular 'keeper Jack Ellis broke his collarbone.

After playing non-league football for Coleford and Chepstow he was signed by Cardiff City to play in Division Three (South). He made eleven first team appearances in a year and a half with Cardiff, before spending a year at each of Bristol Rovers, Millwall and Bristol City.
