William Thomas Murray, known as Bill Murray, was a left half who played at nine different clubs before his untimely death when he was still aged in his mid-30s.

He joined Rovers from Barrow in December 1933 and played 40 times in the league before leaving in 1935.

Bill started out playing in his native Scotland for Bowhill Celtic and Clydebank before having a trial with Preston North End in March 1926. He joined New Brighton in October of the same year, and made his Football League debut for them in 1927. In April 1927 he returned to Clydebank for 7 months, before joining Liverpool in November.

He played four league games in just over a year with The Reds, then joined Barrow in January 1930, where he played the majority of his Football League games–137 out of a career total of 188 matches played. He joined Folkestone in 1936, just four years before his death in 1940.
