Bath City are an important part of the history of Bristol Rovers because they acted as landlords to The Gas for ten years. When Rovers were forced to leave Eastville in 1987 Bath came to the rescue and allowed them to play their home games at Twerton Park. The two teams have only met once in competitive football, but there have also been a large number of pre-season friendlies played by the clubs.

On 11 May 2008 a Bath City Legends XI took on a Bristol Rovers Legends XI to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Twerton Park. Rovers won the game 2-1, thanks to goals from Carl Saunders and David Mehew after Jon Holloway gave Bath an early lead. The Rovers squad was Brian Parkin, Wayne Noble, Andy Tillson, Billy Clark, David Mehew, Andy Gurney, Carl Saunders, Jeff Meacham, Keith Brown, Tony Pounder, Lee Archer and Geoff Twentyman.
