Andy Sandell is a midfielder who joined Bristol Rovers from Bath City in the summer of 2006. He stayed at the Memorial Stadium for just over a year, joining Salisbury City in August 2007.

Career[]

Andy began his career as a trainee with Bristol City, but was released after failing to make the grade there. He dropped down into local non-league football, gradually climbing up the divisions until getting into the league when he joined Bristol Rovers.

His first club after leaving City was Malmesbury Victoria in the Hellenic League, from where he joined Western League side Melksham Town, followed by a spell at Paulton Rovers. He moved to Bath City at the start of the 2005-06 season, and after a year at Twerton Park he joined Rovers. After stepping up to league football from the Southern League he immediately became a first team regular at Rovers for the 2006-07 season, but fell out of favour over the summer. He joined Salisbury on initially on loan, but made the move permanent on transfer deadline day.

On 14 November 2008 Andy joined Aldershot Town on loan with a view to a permanent move when the transfer window reopened in January. The deal to take him to Aldershot was completed on 2 January 2009 and he remained there for a further 18 months, making a total of 64 appearances in all competitions, 58 of which were in the League. On the expiry of his contract in the summer of 2010 he moved on a free transfer to Wycombe Wanderers, who loaned him out to Forest Green Rovers in October 2011. Following the early cancellation of his loan by Forest Green he was released from his contract with Wycombe by mutual consent, and spent a spell with Chippenham Town and also had a trial with American side Chicago Fire.

He made his return to professional football with Newport County, playing in the Conference, at the beginning of the January 2012 transfer window, where he played alongside former Rovers man David Pipe.
