Defender Adam Virgo joined Rovers from Yeovil Town as part of the major overhaul of playing and coaching staff in 2011. He was picked up as a free agent after having been released by Yeovil at the end of the 2010–11 campaign, and made an immediate impact on the Rovers team by scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot on his debut, a 3–2 victory over AFC Wimbledon. His first year in Bristol came to a very early end however when he suffered a season-ending knee cartilage injury in mid September.

Adam returned to action at the beginning of the 2012–13 season, but his luck didn't improve. His previous knee injury flared up again and from the end of October he spent the rest of the campaign in the treatment room.

Adam has a brief international career behind him, having twice been capped by the Scottish B side, in 2004 and 2005.

Career[]

After attending school at the prestigious Ardingly College, where he had won a sports scholarship at the age of 13, he joined his first professional club, Brighton & Hove Albion, in 2000. It was his home town team, and he spent five years in his first spell with them, before returning for a second spell three years later after spending the intervening period with SPL side Celtic. He spent a single season with Yeovil Town in 2010–11 before joining Rovers.
