Pre-season[]

Rovers played nine pre-season friendlies before the 1999-00 season, the most notable of which was Lee Martin's testimonial game against Manchester United. Although fielding a weakened side, the team included David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Ole Gunnar Solskjær. The club also hosted a Queens Park Rangers side at the Memorial Stadium.
